Erin C. Murphy
Erin C. Murphy is a partner with Lee Murphy Law Firm, based in Houston, Texas. Erin has spent her legal career helping those wrongfully harmed by the actions of others. Since 2003, Erin has gained invaluable experience in personal injury and products liability litigation, client management, and settlement administration.
Erin has spent a majority of her career focusing on first-party insurance claims. She has also focused on numerous mass torts, including metal-on-metal hip implants, inferior vena cava filter claims, excessive bleeding events, kidney and heart damage cases, gynecomastia claims and agricultural business claims. Erin spent over five years focusing on the effects that drugs and medical devices can have on women. Specifically, she was involved in cases involving pelvic organ repair mesh, antidepressant and antiseizure birth defects, birth control deep vein thrombosis claims, talc powder, and anti-nausea medication birth defects. Erin currently manages the firm’s nationwide mass tort and first-party insurance dockets.
Erin is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, an honorary organization of lawyers, judges and legal scholars whose careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and the highest principles of the legal profession. She is also an Endowment Fund Scholar and a five-year member of the Texas Bar College, an honorary society of lawyers who are among the best-trained attorneys in Texas.
Erin is a Fellowship Member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (“TTLA”) and serves on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. She chairs the Women’s Caucus and serves on the Finance and Membership Committees. She is a founding member of the TTLA Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Seminar; a seminar for which she has served as course director since 2014. Erin also serves on the Board of Directors for the Houston Trial Lawyers Association (“HTLA”) and is a member of the Texas Women Lawyers, the State Bar of Texas Women and the Law, and the Mass Tort Trial Lawyers Association.
Erin is listed in the Irish Legal 100, an annual compilation of distinguished lawyers of Irish heritage founded by the Irish Voice newspaper in New York. She is a multi-year member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers and The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40. Erin was named one of the Top Lawyers in Houston by H Texas Magazine in 2015 and 2016 and has also received the Premier 100 designation from the National Academy of Jurisprudence.
Throughout her career, Erin has moderated legal seminars throughout the State of Texas and has lectured on case acquisition, client management, database utilization, social media for lawyers, and issues affecting women in the legal profession. She has authored numerous articles for TTLA and the University of Texas CLE and is a multi-year speaker with the Texas Women Rainmakers. Erin recently debuted a comprehensive lecture on Women in Law: Progress, Perception & Perseverance.
A native of a small town in Pennsylvania, Erin earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in Houston. During law school, she was a member of the storied varsity moot court and mock trial teams under the direction of Dean T. Gerald Treece. Before forming Lee Murphy Law Firm in 2012, Erin was an attorney with two preeminent trial law firms in the Houston area. Erin is licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas.
In addition to her law practice, Erin is a Life Member of the SFA Alumni Association, the Irish Society of Houston, and is a member of the Beta Zeta Beta Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega. Erin and her husband Justin R. Goodman, a partner in the Houston law firm of Lubel Voyles, L.L.P., have one daughter and one son. She and her husband are strong supporters of The Post Oak School in Houston.
